This City Rocks!

We’re keepig it rockin and rollin…. Episode No. 5 coming out this week. Look for TCR at the Vancouver Folk Festival!
WOW – Long time since I’ve blogged on my good ol’ megonian wordpress blog. I’ve been, uhm, busy? My new found bud from Gnomedex down in Seattle last week, Matt Mullenweg, would be ashamed!

Check out all kinds of fun and interesting writings, events, tales, conferences, news that Raincity has been up to on our stellar new site!

Since we last met, among other things:
Edmonton lost in game 7 of the Stanley Cup, but man was game 6 hot!
Both of my parents have come and gone from Vancouver after what were 2 fantastic visits.
I’ve lost a ridiculous amount of tennis games – completely uncool and I WILL rectify this fact.
One of my best friends has tied the knot back home in Newf and I had to miss it.
I’ve been to San Fran and Seattle for work and am heading back to Seattle, Portland and San Jose over the next month for more fun work to be had!
I’ve had great coffee, yummy BBQ’s, met some new friends, haven’t lost any old. – generally been trying to keep work the priority, which in turn, would partly be this blog as well. :~O

I feel like I’ve lost the love for my blog… ack! Alas, I’m back on ‘er. Summer is here and the time is right.

And last, but certainly not least:
I have found my new love.

Vloggercon Break – Talking Head

Will Pate from Flock in Mountain View, CA and I jumped out of the action for a quick 10-minute lunch break and 1-minute vlog opp. Though Will admits he was really in no head space to be yakking or entertaining the internet before getting something in his very empty stomach… He came alive and was far more chatty apres wrap!

En Route

Just me, en route, to my first day at Vloggercon, in lovely San Francisco… I think I'll leave my heart here.

First Blog from the Vlog (gercon)

Here at Vloggercon, well, it hasn't quite begun yet… today is the first day and I'm heading over to the venue, The Swedish American Hall (a mere 3 blocks away!) in a bit. I'm staying with the lovely Eddie Codel and Jay – I feel right at home, like I've known this Eddie cat for years. As Will Pate once said, "I'd trust that guy with my last 5 dollars". I concur. Hit a cool joint last night upon my initiation into SanFran nightlife… caught up with some consumating folks and had a chance to chat with Ben Brown: thumbs up for sure!

Went for a crazy run this morning, up and down, and up and down again, and again, and again – this is the city to train in for sure. Downtown St. John's on many, many steroids!! Prescott Street never looked so easy! Ran along the ocean with the Golden Gate in the mist in my view: classic. Had a HUGE breaky at Kate's Kitchen… yummy granola, yogurt, fruit, all on a bed of FIVE slices of French Toast: welcome to America folks.

Episode One Finito and Up and LIVE!

My most recent gig: Hosting Vancouver's first online magazine music show that highlights the best of Canadian music with a focus on Vancouver. Warwick Patterson is the producer and creator and we're getting set to rock on through to episode 2 this week…. and then 3, and 4, and 5… CHECK IT OUT!

You can always still find me doin the usual fun stuff at Raincity Studios, bloggin, vloggin, conferencing, creating-designing-writing (New RCS Site coming soon!), communicating on all fronts… that much all remains. But I've since added to my workload outside of RCS with this awesome, new project that has a tremendous amount of potential – I am thrilled to be a part of it at its inception.

And let's just all face this small fact, shall we?:
This City Does in fact Rock.

From Anna Quindlen

"It's important to remember that feminism is no longer a group of organizations or leaders. It's the expectations that parents have for their daughters, and their sons, too. It's the way we talk about and treat one another. It's who makes the money and who makes the compromises and who makes the dinner. It's a state of mind. It's the way we live now."

Finally, Back On My Blog

It's been a while. I hope my blog is as forgiving as all of you out there that have been emailing me over the past month to no avail. No, I have not dropped off the face of the planet. I'm just busy, like everyone else. If you really wanted to keep up with whatever the hell I am at, you could always be checkin' in on The Standard, which I am writing for pretty much every other day. Or how about China Access 2008, or the more recently initiated WorkSpace blog over at Bill MacEwan's new and soon-to-be thriving WorkSpace. Which brings me to why my poor megsjargon has been oh-so-neglected: I have a new job. Yes, it's now officially 7 weeks in, but in the grand scheme of things, it's still pretty new. I'm still in that need-to-get-back-on-the-computer-and-do-more-online-stuff stage at most free moments I can find. And who am I kidding? Look at what I'm doing now. I take pleasure writing and thinking aloud here, but this outlet has largely turned into a work-related scheme, or that's the goal anyhow… Hey, wait a sec, is this the part where I think aloud, "I hope that one day my work actually isn't "work" at all and becomes something I WANT and CHOOSE to do every day"? Hmmmmm. Aha. We're onto something here.

Raincity Pilot

Working away in the quiet early hours here at Raincity. Gettin stuff done. Lookin out the window over the city from the 5th floor, watching the sun slowly creep into the day, trying to bust its' way through those low-lying coastal clouds, all as I try to find words for site content and blogs and the like…. and lo' and behold! Our official Raincity Pilot strolls in for a little mid-mornin visit with sushi for breaky: how Vancouver. So why not capture this moment on film? Afterall, it's not every day you get a pilot hangin out in your office.

Jess et moi reunite and talk “extremekindness”

My dear ol' pal from those Ryerson days in broadcasting popped into town for a quick 24-hour turn-around and we caught up and hung out a wee bit here at Kits beach in the early morning sunshine glory of Vangroovy. Jessica is the director of development for Ellis Entertainment in Toronto and came out to Victoria to meet and shoot some footage of the four great lads from Extreme Kindness as part of the development of a new project that is going to be an absolute rockstar success:
a. because this concept and these guys are just far too awesome to pass up, and
b. anything that sweet Jess touches turns to gold – she's a star!!
